HETRO Successfully Delivers Three Fully Automatic Tube Coiling and Welding Machines, Helping a Medical Consumables Manufacturer Upgrade Its Production Process

In medical consumables manufacturing, process innovation is not only about improving production efficiency. It is also about enhancing product quality, usability, and the overall user experience.

Sometimes, a seemingly small change in manufacturing technology can bring significant benefits throughout the entire product lifecycle.

At the end of last year, HETRO received an inquiry from a medical consumables manufacturer looking for an automated solution to coil and secure its existing long medical tubes. After nearly six months of development, engineering, and testing, HETRO successfully delivered the first batch of three fully automatic tube coiling and welding machines.

This project represents more than an equipment upgrade. It demonstrates how an innovative welding process can address practical challenges in both manufacturing and end-user applications.

1. The Original Process: A Simple Method with Hidden Costs

Before this project, the customer's production process relied on manual coiling and cable ties to secure long medical tubes.

Operators manually coiled each tube into the required shape and then used cable ties to hold it in place.

Although this method required relatively little equipment investment, it presented several disadvantages that became more apparent when considering the actual application environment.

These medical tubes are primarily used in hospital operating rooms and patient wards, where doctors and nurses need to access them quickly and conveniently.

During actual use, medical professionals typically wear disposable gloves. Removing conventional cable ties by hand can be inconvenient, especially when working with gloves. This adds an unnecessary step to the clinical workflow and may place an additional burden on medical staff.

Furthermore, once removed, the cable ties become additional medical waste that requires appropriate disposal.

From the manufacturing perspective, cable ties also represent recurring material costs, while manual coiling and tying require additional labor and working time.

Therefore, although the traditional process appears inexpensive, its overall cost involves much more than the initial material and labor expenses.

The customer's objective was clear: to find a better way to secure coiled medical tubes while making them easier for healthcare professionals to access and use.

2. Process Innovation: Replacing Cable Ties with High-Frequency Welding

After evaluating the customer's requirements, HETRO's engineering team proposed an innovative solution combining automatic tube coiling with high-frequency spot welding.

By studying the tube material, coiling configuration, welding positions, and process parameters, our team developed a fully automatic machine tailored to this application.

The machine uses an appropriate high-frequency welding process to create localized welding points at designated positions, securing the coiled tube without the need for conventional cable ties.

This solution transforms a traditionally manual process into an integrated automated operation.

Instead of manually coiling and tying each tube, operators can rely on the machine to complete the coiling and welding processes automatically.

The result is a more consistent and convenient product retention method, designed to simplify both manufacturing and subsequent product use.

3. Fully Automatic Operation: Four Integrated Processes

The HETRO fully automatic tube coiling and welding machine integrates four key processes into one production system.

01. Automatic Loading

The machine automatically feeds the medical tubes into the processing system, preparing them for the subsequent coiling operation.

02. Automatic Coiling

The tubes are automatically coiled according to predefined configurations, ensuring consistent product shape and arrangement.

03. Automatic Spot Welding

Using high-frequency welding technology, the machine secures the coiled tubes at designated positions, eliminating the need for conventional cable ties.

04. Automatic Unloading

Once welding is completed, the finished products are automatically unloaded and transferred for subsequent production or packaging operations.

By integrating these four processes, HETRO provides a continuous automated solution that reduces repetitive manual operations and improves production consistency.

4. Beyond Automation: Multiple Benefits for Manufacturers and End Users

The benefits of this process upgrade go beyond simply reducing manual labor.

Reduced Material Costs

Eliminating conventional cable ties reduces recurring consumable costs and simplifies the product assembly process.

Reduced Manual Operations

Automatic coiling and welding replace repetitive manual tasks, helping manufacturers reduce labor requirements and improve production consistency.

Improved User Convenience

Without conventional cable ties, healthcare professionals can access the coiled medical tubes more conveniently, avoiding the extra step of removing ties while wearing medical gloves.

Less Additional Waste

Eliminating cable ties also reduces the additional waste generated during product preparation and use, along with the associated disposal requirements.

More Consistent Product Presentation

Automated coiling and welding help maintain a more uniform product configuration, supporting subsequent packaging and handling operations.

5. Six Months of Development, Three Machines Successfully Delivered

From the initial customer inquiry at the end of last year to solution development, engineering design, machine manufacturing, process testing, and final delivery, this project took nearly six months.

For HETRO, the challenge was not simply to replace manual operations with mechanical movements.

The real challenge was to integrate the customer's product characteristics, coiling requirements, and welding technology into a reliable automated solution suitable for actual manufacturing conditions.

Through continuous engineering development and process optimization, HETRO successfully completed the project and delivered the first batch of three fully automatic tube coiling and welding machines.

This project marks another practical application of HETRO's expertise in high-frequency welding and customized automation for medical consumables.

6. HETRO: Creating More Value Through Medical Automation

Automation in the medical consumables industry should not focus solely on production speed and machine output.

There are opportunities to improve every stage of the product lifecycle, from manufacturing and assembly to the final user experience.

A cable tie may seem like a minor component in product packaging. However, when viewed from a broader perspective, it involves material consumption, labor costs, user convenience, and waste disposal.

At HETRO, we focus on real manufacturing challenges and develop customized automation solutions through high-frequency welding technology, automated assembly, and special-purpose machine engineering.

High-frequency welding is not limited to manufacturing medical bags. For suitable materials and applications, it can also provide innovative solutions for medical tube securing, coiling, and assembly.

Sometimes, a small change in manufacturing technology can make a big difference.

HETRO is committed to providing automation services for the medical consumables industry.

If your products involve manual coiling, tying, or securing processes, contact HETRO to explore how customized automation and innovative welding technologies can help optimize your production process.

We adhere to the concept of "creating value for customers", integrate technology and talent resources, and develop and design various sets of dedicated production lines, dedicated single machines, automation control systems, etc. for customers based on their process characteristics and production requirements.
